Although
a goal of psychiatry may try to get disconnected people in
touch with "reality," our goal is a bit different.
While keeping one foot squarely in our so-called reality, our goal is to open up another reality -- the "real reality" beyond the illusion.
It
has been said that Jesus, like other advanced spiritual
adepts, had the ability to keep one foot planted in the
reality that those around him shared, while being in contact
with ultimate reality -- the state of "non-duality" or God
consciousness.
Not fully understanding this state, many of the things that Jesus said were misinterpreted, distorted, lost, or omitted. Being able to operate in what we might call quantum reality, was the basis of the so-called miracles attributed to him.
Some relatively recent scriptural findings that predate the
scriptures we ended up with*
leap over centuries of reinterpretation and suggest that
Jesus' views were, in fact, consistent with the very ancient
and very modern findings we've cited
And a final thought.
When we operate in this ultimate reality many things change, including our meager abilities to deal with what we see as our physical world.
* It is estimated that at least 25 key scriptures were deleted from what is widely accepted at the Judeo-Christian Bible. Many had an Essene origin, a sect that flourished from about the 2nd century BC until the 1st century AD.
The early Christian church attempted to eradicate both the Essenes and their writings -- even though the Essenes were actually the first Christians (by a different name). However, Paul, who never actually met Jesus, took "Christianity" in another direction.
The Essence believed in non-duality and other concepts quantum physics is now "rediscovering."
Mary, the mother of Jesus, and Mary's mother were both Essenes. Jesus was raised in the Essene tradition and these ideas undoubted influenced his views -- views that the Church later branded as heretical.
