The Rationale For This Section
For more than a decade Modern Directions.com (ModDir.com) was on the cutting edge
in both anticipating and tracking sexual change.
However, if you've been following events, even in in what used to be G-rated, prime-time TV, you know that things have been rapidly and even radically changing
Because of this, we've decided to downplay our previous section devoted to sexual experiences in favor of developing new and needed social areas. However, the original rationale for the section can be found below. |
Although accurate data
is difficult in this area, recent findings on affairs in
industrialized nations suggest that affairs among married women is starting
to equal, if not exceed, those of men.
This is causing major problems in relationships -- problems that Dr. Lee, Dr.
West and Dr. Weston originally dealt with in the previous articles at this
address.
It is doubtful if we will see this sexual trend reverse because of --
the declining libidos of men in industrialized nations
the women's movement and the "sexual emancipation" of women
the media's regular depiction of casual sex and even adulterous
relationships
the hotwife/cuckold husband phenomena
effective birth control
interracial marriages and affairs
"cougars" and the media portrayal of women as
sexually aggressive and semi-promiscuous
the decline of religious influence on sexual behavior with the decline of male libidos coupled with
the expressed need of many wives for greater sexual satisfaction, some husbands are
rethinking the idea of "sexual exclusivity" in their marriages. There
are many examples in this section.
There more reasons on the horizon, not the least of which are female libido-enhancing
drugs. We will also soon see sexual lubricants and drugs designed to stop the
transmission of STD.
If adultery automatically means divorce, we are going to see some major
social problems developing. But, as we are beginning to see in the letters to
this site, marriage does not have to require sexual exclusivity.
A major goal of this site is to
use our articles and the e-mail we receive to suggest new ways of thinking about sex,
including personal experiences that can reduce or nullify problems.
