The Irreverent Reverend --

The Ultimate Mantra

Many years ago I was given a little book called The Impersonal Life.

The author of the first few editions was listed as anonymous

The 250-page book is small enough to slip into a back pocket...

...or a small purse.

This little book has been reprinted more than 50 times since it was published in 1941...

...which gives you some indication of it's popularity.

The title seems strange until you understand the message.

It's one of the few books — in fact, I can't think of any other — that really explains the meaning — as in reason — for life...

...God's purpose in starting the whole thing.

Even though it is consistent with ideas in the new physics, many people find the basic concept a bit "out there" and hard to accept -- especially from a personal ego point of view.

We won't go into that here...

...but we will mention that the book's central theme is the Bible verse...

...Be still and know I am God.

As the book points out, there is a profound message hidden in those seven words...

...a meaning that most people don't grasp until they repeat it many times...

...many, many times...

...almost like a mantra...

...until the meaning shifts...

...and they see things in a different way.

Be still...and know...I am...God. (Emphasis significant.)

Those words can be calming, inspiring, and ultimately revealing...

...opening the door to an understanding of God, life, and creation.

The Impersonal Life is published by DeVorass&Co. Marina delRay, CA.  The book is now hard to find. At one point the complete text was on the Internet.
